West Roxbury Friends of Rosie’s Place founders Alice & Bill Hennessey and Helen & Bob Haley, summered with their families in Hull, MA. There they learned about and became deeply involved with Sunset Point Camp. For nearly 100 years, Sunset Point Camp has provided a dream vacation at the seashore to low-income, at-risk children aged 6-13 from Greater Boston. Nearly 450 city-based children travel to Hull each summer for a one- or two-week overnight camp experience letting them enjoy the fresh air, learn new talents, receive academic summer support, and simply have fun.
At the encouragement of Alice, Bill, Bob and Helen, and in addition to our support for Rosie’s Place and the Roslindale Food Pantry, WRFORP began to contribute to Sunset Point and has since expanded to support other camp programs that serve Boston-area children who would not otherwise be able to access a summer camp experience.
This summer, thanks to your generosity, we are able to provide financial support to:
- Camp COASA (Children of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse), South Boston
- Parkway Community YMCA, West Roxbury, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain
- Sibling Connections, Somerville
- South Street Youth Center, Jamaica Plain
- Sunset Point Camp, Hull
We hope you and your family are enjoying all the joys of summer, and we are grateful for your support in making this joy accessible to others.
