Another wonderful Substation fundraiser!

West Roxbury Friends of Rosie’s Place gives a big, heartfelt thank you to the many longtime and new supporters who joined us on Monday, June 8th, at he Substation in Roslindale for a fun time and a very successful fundraiser to benefit Rosie’s Place and the Roslindale Food Pantry.

This was our second fundraiser in The Substation’s historic, but uniquely contemporary, event space and beer hall.

Guests were welcomed and entertained throughout by the delicious music of Manuel Kaufmann and Alain Pacowski. And after quenching their thirst at the full bar, hungry supporters satisfied their appetite with pizza and other tasty finger foods provided by Old Friend Pizza, Sugar Baking Co., Trader Joe’s, and Wegmans.

The Roslindale Food Pantry is located around the corner from The Substation. We were happy to have several RFP volunteers with us and to welcome its new director, Mark Smith, to share information on the expanding services RFP is providing to food insecure families in Roslindale and Hyde Park.

The multi-generational crowd, from babies to octogenarians, added to the festive atmosphere.

Thanks to everyone for their generosity and participation in the fundraiser’s raffle and auction. Lucky winners took home gift cards and items donated by local businesses and friends:

Our 2026 Campership Fundraiser was a great success, thanks to you! Because of your concern and generosity, we raised over $6000 so that local children living in stressful situations will have the opportunity to have fun in caring summer camp programs including Sibling Connections, Parkway Community YMCA, and Sunset Point Camp.

This is a team effort. In addition to individuals, we also thank our generous corporate donor Enbridge Inc.

We send a big “Thank You!” to everyone who made our Harvest Brunch & Raffle on November 2nd at the Irish Social Club a great success!  

We welcomed a full house!

We are grateful to our corporate donors, Roche Bros. Supermarkets, Wegmans, Starbucks, Dunkin’, Rapid7, and LOQi, and local favorites, Henry’s Market, The Pearl Plates, and Parkway Community YMCA, for their generosity and support. We also thank Sue Chandler, Chief External Relations Officer at Rosie’s, for coming to tell us about the steadily-expanding services they are providing to help close the gap for folks impacted by contracting government support.

Congratulations to Board members Jean Corbo-Hudak and Katie Walsh, who ably co-chaired the event this year for the first time. They picked up the baton from Board members-emeritae Alicia O’Brien and Sally Shuman, who set the standard for our fall brunch for many years.

It was wonderful to see so many constant friends and to welcome new ones. Thanks to your participation, we continue to support Rosie’s Place and the Roslindale Food Pantry as they get ready to help our neighbors in need during the holiday season.

Roche Bros.’ shoppers come through again!

Thank you to all the Roche Bros. shoppers who supported our October 26th Food Drive to benefit the Roslindale Food Pantry.

Donors expressed their heartfelt concern for their neighbors who rely on SNAP assistance and gave generously. WRFORP board members and volunteers were delighted to deliver a pickup truck full of peanut butter, rice, beans, cereal, and more to the Roslindale Food Pantry. A special thank you to Kathy Johnston for coordinating another successful Food Drive.
